Ministry opportunities
An important part of following Christ is ministering to others in Christ's name. At First Baptist of Marietta we offer many opportunities, which enable Christians to make an impact in this world for Jesus.
- Caring Touch is a ministry staffed and directed by the members of First Baptist. Caring Touch volunteers interview people in need who come to First Baptist Church of Marietta each Tuesday from 6:30-7:30 PM and the last two Saturdays of each month from 10:00-11:00 AM. Other volunteers assess each need and consult with Caring Connection, the Salvation Army and a number of county programs to help many find the financial help they need. In 2000 First Baptist Church of Marietta gave more than $10,000 to needy people in our community.
- Washington County Habitat for Humanity is an organization, which helps people help themselves. First Baptist Church of Marietta is an active supporter of Habitat for Humanity. First Baptist Church has been actively supporting Washington County Habitat for Humanity since its founding in 1989 donating $20,000 to build the first house. In 2000 First Baptist Church gave over $10,000 to Washington County Habitat for Humanity. In addition members of First Baptist Church serve as Habitat volunteers in a number of capacities-everything from serving on the Board of Directors to driving nails.
- Franciscan Community Meals is a ministry, which provides meals to those who cannot provide a well balanced diet for themselves. Many of the recipients are elderly. Local volunteers help by delivering meals to the homes of those in need of this essential service. First Baptist Church volunteers help with this ministry.
- Feeding the hungry is another part of the caring ministry we do at First Baptist Church. Through special offerings we financially support ministries which feed the needy: One Great Hour of Sharing, Tools of Hope, Crop Walk, Mountain of Food, and the Community Food Pantry.
- A variety of other ministry opportunities are available at First Baptist Church of Marietta. Ministries include: working with children, visiting the elderly, camping, choir, and worship.
