The First Baptist Church Student Youth Ministry exists to:
Come join 6th through 12th graders each Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. as they learn more about God’s love and how it can impact their lives in amazing and wonderful ways.
Rachel Davis leads the weekly sessions with assistance from Marietta College students. Sessions begin with a “hangout” time (consisting of a fun game), followed by announcements and a devotion that varies from a Bible study, to a discussion of a faith-based book, to viewing and discussing a sermon. Small groups then explore the topic more in-depth, and the final 20 minutes or so are devoted to praise and worship through songs and prayers.
From time to time the group schedules outside activities such as attending a Christian music concert or a Christian youth event or skiing.
The Youth have participated in mission trips within the United States and to Jamaica.
In 2010 the Youth Group will be participating in multiple service projects and raising money for Haiti relief in the local Marietta area. The group’s focus will be on missions and building community within the youth group.
